The South Carolina Attorney General’s Office has issued a Civil Investigative Demand (CID) to Roblox Corporation.

A key element of the lawsuit is Uthmeier’s office’s claim that Roblox “attracts vulnerable child users by design.” The court action details investigations by Uthmeier’s office that he claims uncovered intentional efforts to lure children into sexually charged circumstances.

Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier accuses Roblox of knowingly facilitating a virtual environment that makes it easy for sexual predators to prey on, groom, and abuse children, while marketing the platform in Florida to children as a fun and safe place to play and interact.

On December 16, Wilson confirmed that his office issued a Civil Investigative Demand to Roblox under the South Carolina Unfair Trade Practices Act. The demand seeks information on how Roblox moderates content, markets to minors, and represents safety protections to parents.
